Pale Trash

Filed under: Music — Sash Alexander @ 12:47

Here is a selection of tunes we did way back in the 1990s, all songs we wrote and performed whilst busking on the streets of London. We mostly played on Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square and played in front of large crowds. There was 4 of us, Shaw (Djembe & Lead Vocals), Ben (Kick Drum & Shaker & Backing Vocals), Martijn (Djembe, Human Beat Box & Backing Vocals) and myself (Bass, Guitar & Backing Vocals) and we did very high energy performances of 45 minutes each that could be heard for miles… These studio recordings capture some of that sound and energy. Apologies for the not perfect sound quality, but I got these digitized from a cassette as the original DAT has vanished…

Kylie Minogue

‘Whenever You Feel Like It’ is a song by Australian singer Kylie Minogue which was produced by Martijn ten Velden. I play bass on this one. It was specifically written and released for US box office hit movie ‘Scooby Do’. Because of modern technology there never was a need for a whole band to play together so I never did get to meet Kylie!

‘Point of View’ is song by DB Boulevard and was a hit in the UK reaching number one. Produced by Martijn ten Velden. I play the bass on it. Very catchy song indeed I must admit!

This is a piece of film music written for a Nikon viral which is in the offline editing stage at the moment. The length for the video is pretty much there, now we’re working on some special morphing effects that happen towards the end of it. This video is to promote Nikon’s latest cameras and some of the new features on them.

This piece of music was written to be used (in parts) in an up and coming viral which we will be shooting in October. The various themes in the music will be relating to the visuals and build up to become a structured song. Can’t tell you much more about this project because it is in production at present and we wanna keep it a little bit secret…

DAMF – The Acoustic Sessions

Filed under: Music — Sash Alexander @ 15:39

Here are some songs I recorded and produced during my final year in London. It features some of the many musicians I have come to love and respect over the years such as; Martijn ten Velden (DJ/Producer), Masaki Hosotani (Miso Soup), Ben Cowen (7Hurtz), Bas Janssen (Radio 838 DJ) Darion Marshall and many more. The initial idea was to record an acoustic album combining various styles and genres of music without a clear cut direction to let the music flow and create itself. The results are even after all these years still cool to listen to and have a nice honest vibe. I am responsible for all the bass lines, percussion a few vocals here and there 5 notes on the trumpet and the production.

DAMF – The Electric Session

Filed under: Music — Sash Alexander @ 16:44

Here are a couple of songs I recorded on my own (I know it’s sad… haha) using my Mac and Logic Audio and of course my basses and percussion. I have collected percussion from many countries I have traveled to. Some of these are featured on the DAMF projects. I can’t say these songs are finished cause I never had a chance to mix them down or to master them, but it still gives you an impression I feel.
